There Is No Time Like the Present

This adage was first recorded in 1562. One compiler of proverbs, John Trusler, amplified it: “No time like the present, a thousand unforeseen circumstances may interrupt you at a future time” (Proverbs Exemplified, 1790). It still holds true in 2022.

 Friends and family may tell you to wait and time the market for the best price. However, there is no way to time the market. The market seems like an unpredictable living breathing organism that twists and turns unexpectedly. None of us saw the huge housing price increases of 2020 coming. Many of us have never experienced the high inflation rates we experience today, so we didn’t see those coming either.

However, the folks who bought and held in 2008, 2021 or 2019 are not having regrets right now. Time and appreciation were on their side, If you buy today, even at 5.5% interest, you will not likely regret it five to ten years from now. Time and appreciation will be on your side too.

Find a property, run your numbers, and if it makes sense, make an offer. Renters will cover the mortgage, insurance and taxes and appreciation will grow your wealth. There is no better time than the present.
